Hospital Onset Bacteremia, Peripheral IVs and You

This presentation seeks highlight one of the most common sources of bloodstream infection risks, the lowly and underappreciated peripheral IV. Regulatory changes are underway shaping how hospitals will track and report hospital-acquired infections, moving away from specific concepts like CLABSI to hospital-onset bloodstream infections (HOBSI). In this event we will discuss American healthcare policy and the background of HOBSI. We will identify interventions to prevent and control HOBSIs and describe important process implementation considerations. HOBSI is not coming, it is here, and we are in the middle of the implementation process.
